Atlanta Braves first baseman Matt Olson and utilityman Mauricio Dubón received Rawlings Gold Glove Awards on Sunday night. The two players were selected as the top defenders at their respective positions in the National League for the 2026 season. This marks the first time a pair of Braves has won the honor in the same year since Max Fried and Dansby Swanson did so in 2022.

The selection process combines human judgment with statistical analysis. Managers and up to six coaches from each team cast ballots that account for 75% of the total vote. They are not permitted to choose their own players. The remaining 25% is determined by the SABR Defensive Index, a formula that measures range, arm strength, and fielding reliability. A separate calculation of this index identifies the utility winner.

Olson, 32, earns his fourth Gold Glove, joining Christian Walker and Paul Goldschmidt as the only active first basemen with four. He beat out Ty France of San Diego and T.J. Rumfield of Colorado. Olson played all 162 games this season, leading all Major League first basemen in innings played. His defensive metrics included 12 Outs Above Average and 12 in overall fielding run value. He also ranked second only to France in Defensive Runs Saved with 11.

Dubón, 32, takes his third Gold Glove and his third utility award. He is the first Atlanta player to win the utility category since Rawlings introduced it in 2022. Dubón has won the award three times in five years, including two nods while with the Houston Astros. He is the only player in Major League history to win the utility Gold Glove multiple times. His versatility was evident in his starts this season, which included 75 in left field, 51 at shortstop, 14 in center field, five at third base, and four at second base.

The awards extend a long run of defensive success for the franchise. The Braves have claimed 12 Gold Gloves in seven of the last nine seasons since 2018. Chris Sale and Michael Harris II were also finalists in the National League but were passed over. Nolan McLean of the New York Mets and Pete Crow-Armstrong of the Chicago Cubs won the pitching and center field awards, respectively.
