Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Dutch Prime Minister Rob Jetten announced the start of a joint air defense initiative named Bliksem. The two leaders met with executives from defense, energy, and software firms in the Netherlands to outline the new industrial partnership.
Jetten stated that the Netherlands will allocate 500 million euros for military aid to Ukraine, with a specific focus on strengthening its air defense capabilities. The Dutch government is also committing 1.2 billion euros in non-military aid over the next three years. This funding is intended to support recovery and reconstruction efforts while expanding opportunities for Dutch businesses.
The Dutch government will additionally contribute 10 million euros to the Industrial Ramstein initiative. These financial commitments are part of a wider strategy to deepen economic ties between the two countries.
Zelenskyy said the cooperation aims to produce industrial, technological, and social results. He noted that standing alongside Ukraine involves more than immediate military support. The teams from both countries have been tasked with developing specific details for the Bliksem project, though Zelenskyy did not disclose technical specifics.
The leaders identified key priorities for their economic collaboration. These areas include defense production, joint technology projects, energy development, industrial growth, and satellite technologies.
