A new behavioral health center in Gastonia began operations this month to serve children and adolescents in Gaston County. The facility aims to address the region’s ongoing challenges with opioid addiction and overdose rates by focusing on youth mental health and substance-use prevention.
Kintegra Health opened the Pediatric Behavioral Health Center in October 2026. The organization stated the facility was designed specifically to meet the unique mental and emotional health needs of children. It is located on Cox Road, between Lowell Road and Interstate 85.
Licensed therapists at the center provide care for a range of concerns. These include anxiety, depression, mood disorders, grief and loss, substance use, and behavioral challenges. The center emphasizes compassionate care for young patients navigating these issues.
The opening coincides with a broader county effort to support residents dealing with opioid use disorder. Gaston County offers a free medication-assisted treatment program for those in active withdrawal. The program is designed to reach people wherever they are, providing resources without judgment.
Local media outlets are partnering with the county to raise awareness about these available resources. A live broadcast is scheduled for November 10 from the new facility. The event will focus on youth prevention and outreach efforts in the community.
The new center adds a dedicated space for pediatric behavioral health services in the area. It operates alongside existing county initiatives aimed at recovery and prevention. Residents can access more information through the Kintegra Health website.
