Pueblo residents will experience a 30 degree temperature drop by Saturday as a cold front crosses the state on Friday, Oct. 23. The city’s high is forecast at 80 degrees, marking the final day of warmth before the plunge. Saturday’s high will reach only the 50s, with a low of 47 degrees in nearby Colorado Springs.
Morning conditions in Pueblo were expected to remain in the 50s before clouds break and temperatures rise. Sunshine along Interstate 25 was projected to emerge around 10 a.m. as the front advances from the west. This movement supports the development of thunderstorms farther east, with a few storms possible along the southern portion of the interstate.
Rain chances increase as the week ends. The south side of Pueblo has a 10% to 20% chance of precipitation on Friday. By the weekend, those odds rise significantly. Canon City may see afternoon showers with a 20% to 30% chance of rain, while most other locations remain dry. Woodland Park is forecast to top out at 58 degrees with a low of 39 degrees.
Southern communities face their warmest days of the week on Friday. Walsenburg and Trinidad are expected to reach 73 and 74 degrees respectively, with lows of 49 degrees. These temperatures will fall to the 50s over the weekend. The Tri-Lakes area, including Monument, is forecast to hit 69 degrees on Friday before dropping to the 50s on Saturday.
The eastern plains will see thunderstorms return by Friday evening after a sunny start. Afternoon temperatures in that region are expected to range from the 70s to 80s. Mountain areas will see highs in the 60s and lows in the 30s. Lingering moisture and flooding remain concerns in southwestern Colorado, where water levels may take time to recede.
Weather conditions are expected to stabilize next week. The forecast includes sunshine, partly cloudy skies, and temperatures gradually warming into the 60s. The preliminary outlook for Halloween lists temperatures in the 50s and 60s with dry weather, though that projection could shift as the week progresses.
