Rahul Saxena began serving as the interim chief commercialization officer at Georgia Tech on Nov. 1, 2026. He also holds the title of vice president for Commercialization. The university appointed him to lead the Office of Commercialization. Raghupathy "Siva" Sivakumar concurrently serves as interim executive vice president for Research.
Saxena currently directs the CREATE-X program. He has worked in entrepreneurship, venture capital, and technology development for more than 20 years. His professional history includes roles as a startup chief executive and an investor. The university noted that his background combines technical expertise with business experience.
During his tenure as CREATE-X executive director, Saxena focused on student entrepreneurship. He helped build the university's innovation ecosystem. Over the last five years, CREATE-X supported the launch of more than 800 startups by students and faculty. In fiscal year 2026, more than 6,000 on-campus students participated in the program's activities.
The appointment aims to maintain stability in the office. Georgia Tech is advancing its commercialization priorities. The university seeks stronger links between research, industry, and entrepreneurship. Saxena’s new role places him in charge of these efforts while Sivakumar manages research operations.
The transition takes effect immediately. Saxena steps into the leadership position without a permanent title change. The office will continue its existing initiatives under his direction.
