Apple sets 60W adapter requirement for 20-minute iPhone Duo charge

Apple requires iPhone Duo owners to use specific high-power hardware to charge their devices to 50 percent in 20 minutes. The company's support documentation states that this rapid wired charging speed is only possible when the phone is connected to a compatible power adapter and the included USB-C cable.

Apple identifies two options for meeting this requirement. Buyers can use Apple's 40W Dynamic Power Adapter with 60W Max, which costs $34. Alternatively, users may select a third-party adapter rated for 60 watts or more. According to the guidance, these external chargers must utilize Adjustable Voltage Supply and support USB Power Delivery 3.2.

Wireless charging operates at a slower pace. Apple says the iPhone Duo reaches 50 percent battery in approximately 30 minutes using a wireless connection. To achieve this, the device must be paired with a MagSafe Charger, priced at $30, or an adapter rated at 35 watts or higher. The company lists compatible adapters from Apple and Anker for this purpose.

9to5Mac notes that third-party chargers often offer better value than Apple's first-party options. The publication recommends Anker's 100W charging brick, which supports iPhones, Macs, and iPads. The outlet also mentions that Apple's 40W adapter remains a viable choice for users who prefer buying directly from the manufacturer.

Users who need more cable length than the standard box-included accessory provides can purchase Apple's official 2-meter USB-C cable. The article states this item is currently available at a discount. Owners are invited to share their specific fast-charging setups in the comment section.
