Hilary Rosen has been named the new chair of the British Academy of Film and Television Arts. She takes over the role from Sara Putt, who is stepping down after serving a three-year term. Rosen, who previously served as Putt’s deputy, will now oversee the organization’s awards, industry leadership, and development programs for film, games, and television.

Rosen has been a member of the BAFTA Television Committee since 2021 and later served as its chair. In that capacity, she helped shape the TV and Craft Awards and managed their juries. She also works outside the academy as the director of commissioning at UKTV, where she leads the network’s slate of original scripted and unscripted content.

Two deputies will support Rosen in her new role. Ade Rawcliffe and Andrew Miller have been appointed as deputy chairs of the Academy. Both individuals will serve on a two-year term, providing immediate leadership support to the incoming chair.

The academy also finalized appointments to its Board of Trustees following an election process. Charu Desodt will serve as the new chair for the Games Committee, while Caroline Levy takes the same role for the Television Committee. Nahrein Kemp is set to become the chair of the LIT Committee. Shrina Shah, who currently chairs the governance and appointments committee, will join the Board of Trustees.

Rosen described the promotion as a great privilege. She said she has long been passionate about promoting the screen arts and championing talent across the screen industries. Rosen expressed delight at working alongside the newly appointed committee chairs and the rest of the Board of Trustees. She called the group outstanding industry leaders and expressed confidence that the board will continue the impactful work of its predecessors.
