Bambu Lab will sell the H3C, a 3D printer with a nine-tool changer, starting November 3. The company released a teaser video on Thursday showing the internal layout. The machine stores nine tool heads on a Vortex-style rack positioned at the front of the chamber.
The H3C joins Bambu Lab’s flagship H-line. It follows the H2S, H2D, and H2C models. The new printer is structurally similar to the H2C. That model uses a motorized Vortex rack to hold idle tools. The H2C has a build volume of 330 x 320 x 325mm. The H3C expands that tool capacity from seven to nine.
Industry observers view tool changers as the next step in printing. These systems swap colors faster than the existing AMS system. They also generate less material waste. The H3C design keeps idle tools above the build plate. This placement prevents the rack from blocking the view of the first layer. In contrast, the Bondtech INDX system on the Prusa CORE One requires users to look through the rack to see the print.
The 11-second teaser video shows the tool rack dropping down with a metallic sound. Online speculation about the machine’s spool capacity has been widespread. Some YouTubers analyzed leaked clues without review units. An AI-enhanced image previously suggested ten spools. The official video confirms nine colorful Bowden tools arching over the top. Bambu Lab has not yet disclosed the specific spool holding mechanism.
Dr. Tao of Bambu Lab spoke to Tom’s Hardware at last year’s Formnext. He described the company’s goal of building multitasking machines. The H2 line is marketed as a home manufacturing hub. The H2D model includes an optional laser. The A2L model offers a blade cutting and embossing tool. These features suggest the H3C may also include tools beyond standard 3D printing.
Bambu Lab has not released full specifications for the H3C. The company stated that details will arrive at launch. The printer goes on sale on November 3. No other date or event has been scheduled for additional reveals.
