Amanda Serrano will stop fighting on January 9. The Puerto Rican boxer confirmed she is retiring after one final bout on home soil. Most Valuable Promotions named the event 'The Last Walk.' It will take place at the Coliseo de Puerto Rico in San Juan.
Serrano currently holds unified WBO and WBA featherweight titles. She will defend those belts against Australia’s Skye Falzon. This fight marks the end of a career that includes 50 wins, 4 losses, and 1 draw. Serrano stopped 32 opponents by knockout.
The 38-year-old fighter is attempting to set a new record. She shares the all-time women’s knockout record with American Christy Martin. Serrano is the only undisputed boxing champion from Puerto Rico. Her record spans seven different weight divisions, a feat recognized by Guinness World Records.
In a statement, Serrano described boxing as the center of her life. She noted that the sport took her and her family on an unexpected journey. She recalled the early days of women’s boxing, which often took place in small theaters. She contrasted that history with recent milestones, such as headlining Madison Square Garden in New York. Serrano said she is proud of the doors she has opened for younger female fighters.
Serrano made history in 2022 alongside Ireland’s Katie Taylor. They became the first women to headline Madison Square Garden. The two shared a rivalry that produced three fights. Taylor won the series, defeating Serrano by majority decision in their third meeting in 2025. Serrano also pushed for equality in the rules. In 2023, she fought in the first women’s unified world championship over 12 three-minute rounds. She later vacated her WBC title to maintain her commitment to those equal rules.
Nakisa Bidarian and Jake Paul founded Most Valuable Promotions. In a joint statement, they called the upcoming fight a celebration of an athlete who changed the sport. They said the promotion was proud to provide Serrano with a proper farewell. They described January 9 as the end of her time in the ring, but noted that her legacy will persist through future fighters.
Opponent Skye Falzon is also 38 years old. Her professional record stands at 12 wins and 2 losses. She secured seven of those wins by knockout.
