Google is pushing a server-side update to the Gemini app for Android that consolidates user settings and restructures the navigation drawer. The change follows the previous Spark-to-Task modification and is rolling out to users without requiring a new download from the app store.

The navigation interface now places the search function in the top-right corner. The "New chat" option remains the primary entry at the top of the list. Directly below it sits the Library feature, which previously occupied a position near the bottom of the drawer.

To manage screen space, the app now displays only the five most recent chats in the drawer. Users must tap a "More" button to expand the full history. For AI Ultra subscribers, the complete list includes New chat, Library, Images, Scheduled, Daily brief, Customize, Students, Videos, and Gems.

The settings experience has shifted from a split layout to a unified page. Previously, preferences were divided between the account menu and a distinct "Gemini Settings" area. Google has now combined these into one interface, leaving the account menu strictly for switching accounts, submitting feedback, and accessing help.

The new settings page begins with Manage account and Usage limits. A Preferences section follows, listing Notifications, Personal Intelligence, Avatar, Task settings, Theme, Skills, Voice, Media, Device controls, Cart and orders, and Gemini Notebook. The Theme option is the only item marked as new in this section.

The page concludes with Data & privacy and Get support sections. Data & privacy covers Import memory, Contact info from your devices, Gemini Apps Activity, Your public links, and the Privacy Help Hub. The Get support section lists Help, Report a problem, About, and Updates. These interface changes previously reached iOS, macOS, and web platforms last week alongside the Gemini 4 Argon launch.

Recent developments in the Gemini ecosystem include Gemini Notebook becoming a Connected App, free users transitioning to "Auto" models with added thinking levels, and the introduction of a "Map" tool. The "Map" tool coincided with the replacement of the "/" shortcut with an "@" symbol.
