Stable Android 17 is now reaching the OnePlus 15 and OnePlus Pad 4 in India, arriving seven days before the company's originally scheduled date of October 29. This early rollout marks the first time these flagship devices receive an update based on ColorOS, effectively ending the era of OxygenOS for the global market.
OxygenOS has served as OnePlus's customized Android interface since the brand's inception. It started as a near-stock experience but evolved into a global variant of Oppo's ColorOS. The transition was announced when OnePlus scaled back its independent global operations, confirming that existing devices would migrate to the Oppo-based software.
OnePlus describes ColorOS 17 as a system built around the concept of "Flow with AI, Flow Everywhere." The company states the goal is to make technology feel natural rather than requiring active user configuration. The update aims to streamline daily interactions, assist in converting ideas into finished work using artificial intelligence, and reduce friction when moving between different tasks and devices.
The software has undergone a beta testing phase before this stable release. The update is currently limited to the OnePlus 15 and the OnePlus Pad 4. Other models, including the previous generation of flagships and various Nord series phones, have been confirmed for future updates but are not part of this initial wave.
The next phase of the rollout is set for October 30. This wave will include the OnePlus 13. While the source did not provide specific dates for other regions, the update is expected to reach global markets in the coming days following the India launch.
This software shift follows a period of restructuring for the brand. Reports indicate that the OnePlus 15 and other recent models sold out in the United States after the company closed most of its global operations. OnePlus has also recently unveiled the OnePlus 16, which features a 9,000 mAh battery.
The company's marketing materials emphasize smoother interactions and smarter experiences as key components of the new version. The move to ColorOS aligns OnePlus more closely with its parent company Oppo, consolidating the software platform across the group's global devices.
