Samsung will release the Galaxy W27 in China on October 29.
Leaker Ice Universe shared the date and an image of the phone on social media. The device features a glossy blue back panel. Gold accents surround the triple-camera array on the rear.
The W27 is a China-only variant of the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra. Samsung has released a specially styled foldable for the Chinese market every year. These W series phones typically include unique designs and elaborate packaging. They are rebranded versions of Samsung's top foldable model for that year.
The choice of the Ultra model as the base is notable. The standard Galaxy Z Fold 8 uses a new wide format that is gaining popularity. Wide-format foldables are also becoming common in China. Xiaomi's latest device uses a similar form factor. Huawei has released wide foldables for a longer period than any other manufacturer.
This release follows a pattern set in previous years. In 2024, the Galaxy Z Fold 6 Special Edition received a wider release. That model served as a preview for the Galaxy Z Fold 7. The W27 specifications match the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra exactly.
The launch comes as Samsung emphasizes the success of its foldable lineup. The company stated that the Galaxy Z Fold 8 is a hit. It noted that the iPhone Duo has increased attention on foldable phones. Analysts predict foldable display shipments will rise by 44% in 2026. This growth is driven by the arrival of wide foldables. Samsung also recently updated several Galaxy devices to Android 17.
If the leaked date is accurate, the W27 will be Samsung's last foldable launch for 2026. The company has several new foldable models planned for next year.
